For all of the fans that wanted to listen to the DJ Norie Vybz Kartel interview from last night, this video contains the second part of the interview, where Kartel discussed the whole issue of his "bleaching".. Kartel had previously released a statement to VIBE magazine regarding the issue, where he stated the following:
“I’m my own man, and as such I do my own thing. When black women stop straightening their hair and wearing wigs and weaves, when white women stop getting lip and butt injections and implants, when bald men stop getting hair transplants, and when people stop getting nose jobs and cosmetic surgery then I’ll stop using the ‘cakesoap’ and we’ll all live naturally ever after. As per information swarming around the Internet, and BBM blasts if you, like I, have forgotten to delete all the Jamaican's off your BBM (note to self, get to that tomorrow), you would know that one of our favorite Reggae artists of all time, Buju Banton was convicted yesterday on Drug charges.
Guess he will be performing "Driver A" at a local fed pen near you?
Why can't the U.S. get on a plan like Jamaica had with Ja Cure and have these inmates working for their keep? Ja Cure literally had to sing for his supper- Imagine if we could have a concert series for all our jailed Artists. We could call it the Cell Block All-Stars! Staring Buju Banton, TI, and we could have all the PO officers who are really aspiring rappers open up, with a special intro by Lil Wayne, who just missed the line up by a few months, but could easily get caught on one of his many probation violations and join the line up. If we expand our criteria to rehab and probation, we can have the whole industry on this damn bill...
Way any, back to the sentence at hand.. heard there were more crying Jamaicans in the court room then the time all the hair stores on the island ran out of the shiny weave and smedium skinny jeans at the same time.. "A federal jury deliberated for 11 hours duringBujuBanton'sretrial for his role in setting up a sale of five kilos of cocaine to an undercover officer in a Miami warehouse during an undercover operation by the DEA. The singer was caught on videotape testing cocaine in a Sarasota warehouse in December of 2008, although he wasn't present during the actual drug deal, which took place two-days later. According to the Associated Press, Buju, 37, was found guilty of three of the four charges and now faces at least 15 years in prison, when he is sentenced. The popular singer, who's album Before the Dawn just won aGrammyAward, is already planning an appeal of the conviction. His lawyer, David Markus, claims that the reggae singer was a big talker who wasn't involved in the drug deal. Ironically, the confidential informant who audiotaped and videotaped Buju during the alleged drug deal, earned a $50,000 commission for his role in the undercover sting conducted by the DEA. Buju is expected to make bond until his sentencing date, which has not been scheduled."

Stop Order on 'Rampin Shop' - Ne-Yo's publishing company writes Kartel

The current version of Vybz Kartel and Spice's Rampin Shop has been ordered to be destroyed and pulled from all radio stations, television stations and the Internet by EMI Music Publishing. Plans are in motion for the song to be re-mixed and re-mastered so it can be played on air again.
When the STAR spoke to Vybz Kartel yesterday he explained that he had received an e-mail from EMI Music Publishing stating that Rampin Shop infringes on the copyright license of Miss Independent by Ne-Yo. Rampin Shop was released towards the end of 2008 and is currently on a remade version of the Miss Independent rhythm, the song while immensely popular in Jamaica has not been officially released to the International market. While Ne-Yo is officially signed to Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), the copyright license for the composition of the Ne-Yo song is licensed by EMI Music Publishing for composers Shaffer Smith, Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen.
Kartel forwarded the e-mail from EMI to the STAR in which it stated, "'Ramping Shop' by Vybz Kartel and Spice infringes the copyright in 'Miss Independent' (Smith/Hermansen/Eriksen). Clearance of this use of 'Miss Independent' has not been sought or obtained and I am informed that clearance will not be forthcoming. Accordingly 'Ramping Shop' cannot be released or exploited in any way. Please confirm your acknowledgement and acceptance of this, and that you will arrange that (i) all recordings of the infringing track will be re-called and destroyed and that no further copies will be issued, and (ii) that the audio and/or video will be taken down immediately from all Internet sites."
According to Kartel the current version of the song will not be used and to solve the problem a re-mix of the song is currently being done. He said, "the remix will sound like dancehall, just like what Ne-Yo's people did when they made Miss Independent ... Notnice and I will be doing the remix today (yesterday) so listen out for it by Friday when it is mixed and mastered."
